Chardonnay : It produces sparse crops from struggling vines in marginal soils and climates. Can be big, buttery and oaky or light and fruity.
Gewurztraminer : Usually associated with the Alsace region in France. This white wine is dry, floral and spicy with tropical and exotic fruit overtones.
Pinot Grigio : Native to Northern Italy, it is gaining in popularity. This wine produces a light and fruity table wine.
Riesling : Riesling is New York's prized Vinifera grape variety. Can result in a golden wine of intense floral and apricot flavor.
Cabernet Franc : Has increased in popularity as a varietal wine, while still used primarily as a blend. Fresh and complex earthy berry flavors.
Cabernet Sauvignon : The most famous grape in the world. The vine is vigorous, the wine is ruby red with aromas of cedar, currants & bell pepper.
Merlot : The last few years demand for this grape has grown significantly. It has similar flavor to Cab Sauv, but is more fruitlike in overall character.
Petit Verdot : We have planted about 400 vines of this Bordeaux varietal. It produces wines that have intense color and high tannin content.
Pinot Noir : It is the main red grape variety of Burgundy in France. The wine is very light with distinctive coffeelike aroma and berry flavor.
Shiraz : Also known as Syrah in the Rhone Valley of France. The wine has a blue-black hue with plum and truffle like aroma.
Zweigelt : Rare variety that originated in Austria. We have planted only 100 vines, it is a red wine grape that Vetter Vineyards is expiramenting with.
